The New Zealand Institute
of Patent Attorneys, Inc

Exams

Entry to the Patent Attorney Examinations is now restricted to students who have already passed one paper before the end of 2016. Any person who has not passed any NZ patent attorney examinations by the end of 2016 will be unable to enrol in any future New Zealand patent attorney examinations. They can only become registered as a Trans-Tasman patent attorney by completing the requirements for registration under the new Trans-Tasman patent attorney regime. Refer to How to become a Patent Attorney for more information

These exams are administered by the Institute on behalf of the Intellectual Property Office of New Zealand. For more information about how to enrol and a copy of the syllabus for the examinations refer to the IPONZ website.

These exams are generally run in July each year, coinciding with the University and School holidays.

A number of old Exam Papers are available for download in PDF format. Please read the below copyright notice.
